# Winnie Odinga Warned as Robert Alai Explains How Jalang’o Could Defeat Her in Nairobi Senate Race

Winnie Odinga could face a tough political battle if she proceeds with her plan 
to contest the Nairobi senatorial seat, with Kileleshwa Member of Parliament Robert
Alai warning that Lang’ata MP Felix Oduor, popularly known as Jalang’o, could emerge
as a formidable challenger.

Winnie, the youngest daughter of the late former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)
leader Raila Odinga, recently declared her intention to vie for the seat during 
the first memorial service of her father in Bondo, Siaya County.

Her announcement sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans, with some welcoming her 
political ambitions while others questioned her chances in Nairobi’s competitive
political landscape.

Jalang’o was among the leaders who welcomed the prospect of facing Winnie in the
race. The Lang’ata legislator maintained that he was ready to compete against her,
setting the stage for what could become an interesting contest if both candidates
pursue their ambitions.

However, Alai believes Winnie should not underestimate Jalang’o’s political strength
and his ability to mobilise voters across the capital.

According to the Kileleshwa MP, Jalang’o has established himself as an effective
grassroots mobiliser, a factor that could give him an advantage during the campaign
period.

Alai also pointed to Jalang’o’s alleged support from President William Ruto, suggesting
that the political backing could strengthen his position as he seeks to expand his
influence in Nairobi.

The remarks have added another dimension to the emerging political contest, particularly
as Winnie considers stepping into elective politics following years of involvement
in her father’s political activities.

Winnie’s family name could attract significant attention, especially among supporters
who remain loyal to Raila’s political legacy. However, the senatorial race would
also require candidates to demonstrate their ability to connect with Nairobi voters
and build strong grassroots networks.

With the next general election approaching, the possible contest between Winnie 
and Jalang’o could attract considerable public interest.

Whether Winnie will formally enter the race and whether Jalang’o will challenge
