A major political showdown is looming in Western Kenya following announcements by
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi regarding plans for a massive consultative
convention slated for late December.

Partnering with Central Organization of Trade Unions Secretary General Francis Atwoli,
the initiative seeks to unite the Luhya electorate into a cohesive political entity
capable of asserting its weight in national governance ahead of upcoming election
cycles.

The upcoming gathering is designed to send a decisive statement to Nairobi Senator
Edwin Sifuna and his political allies. Senior leaders within the ruling coalition
have voiced growing concern over recent opposition drives aimed at carving out support
across the Western region.

By organizing a centralized showcase of regional unity, establishment figures aim
to demonstrate that the Western voting bloc remains firmly anchored within government
structures rather than swayed by opposition political maneuvers.

Mudavadi cautioned constituents against underestimating opposition strategies, acknowledging
that the Orange Democratic Movement and its affiliated leaders remain politically
astute and skilled in grassroots mobilization.

He warned that internal fragmentation within the region could inadvertently weaken
its political bargaining leverage, allowing rival political machinery to divide
the local vote.

Consequently, the December convention will focus on consolidating regional solidarity
to protect the community’s collective political interests.

The planned convention signals intensifying competition for control of the Western
Kenya voting bloc.

As young opposition leaders work to expand their national footprint and build new
political movements, veteran regional figures are moving swiftly to reinforce traditional
strongholds.

The December rally is expected to serve as a key test of strength, shaping regional
political alignments for years to come.
