# Video: Kawira Mwangaza Runs for Safety After Goons Attack Her Convoy in Meru

Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza was forced to flee for safety on Tuesday, October
20, 2026, after a group of armed individuals reportedly attacked her convoy during
Mashujaa Day celebrations in Githongo, Meru County.

A video circulating on social media shows the former governor and some of her supporters
running for cover as the attackers allegedly pursued them.

According to the footage, the group blocked Mwangaza’s motorcade and pelted it with
stones, triggering panic among those accompanying her.

The incident disrupted what appeared to be a tense moment during her campaign trail,
with supporters scrambling to escape the confrontation.

Mwangaza later took to social media to address the incident, claiming she had planned
to attend the Mashujaa Day celebrations in Githongo before the situation turned
chaotic.

She alleged that a group of individuals took control of the event and targeted her,
forcing her and her supporters to flee for their safety.

The former governor also accused Meru Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia of playing a key
role in the attack.

However, the allegations had not been independently verified, and no response from
the county governor regarding the accusations was provided in the information available.
