# Video: More Trouble for Natembeya as Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Makes Unexpected Declaration

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya could face fresh political challenges following
a controversial declaration reportedly made by the county commissioner amid his
ongoing disagreements with President William Ruto.

In a video circulating online, the Trans Nzoia County Commissioner is heard directing
government administrative officers in the county not to show respect to Natembeya,
allegedly citing his conduct towards the Head of State.

The commissioner reportedly warned chiefs and assistant chiefs against saluting
the governor, accusing him of failing to respect President Ruto.

The declaration has sparked questions about the relationship between the national
government and the county leadership, particularly as political tensions continue
to rise in Trans Nzoia.

Natembeya has recently found himself at odds with Ruto over the Masinde Muliro Market,
a major trading facility in the county.

The disagreement intensified after the President commissioned the market, an event
that reportedly angered the governor.

The dispute has since added to the political rivalry between the two leaders, with
the market becoming a focal point in their public disagreements.

Natembeya, who has positioned himself as a critic of the current administration,
has increasingly challenged decisions and actions associated with the President
and his government.

The latest declaration, if implemented as reported, could further strain relations
between the governor and national government administrators working in the county.

Chiefs and assistant chiefs serve as important links between the national government
and local communities. Their responsibilities include coordinating government programmes,
maintaining administrative communication and supporting service delivery.

However, the reported directive raises questions about the boundaries between political
disagreements and the official responsibilities of public officers.

It remains unclear whether the commissioner issued a formal written directive or
whether further clarification will be provided by the national government.

Neither the governor’s response nor an official explanation from the relevant authorities
has been included in the information accompanying the circulating video.

The development is likely to attract further attention as the political contest
between Natembeya and Ruto continues, with Trans Nzoia emerging as a key battleground
in their growing differences.
