# Video: Kenyans Praise Ruto After What He Did at Night in Uasin Gishu County

President William Ruto has attracted attention online after a video showed him taking
tea inside an affordable housing unit in Pioneer, Uasin Gishu County, during his
ongoing tour of the Rift Valley region.

The nighttime visit has sparked reactions among Kenyans, with some praising the
President for showcasing the government’s affordable housing programme and its potential
benefits to ordinary citizens.

Ruto is spending the second consecutive day touring parts of the Rift Valley, a
region widely regarded as his political stronghold. During the tour, he has been
launching development projects and engaging residents on his administration’s agenda.

In the video circulating online, the Head of State is seen enjoying a cup of tea
inside one of the housing units in the Pioneer affordable housing project.

The visit offered a glimpse into the residential development, which forms part of
the government’s broader plan to increase access to affordable homes for Kenyans.

Ruto’s decision to visit the housing project at night has drawn attention, particularly
among supporters who view the programme as an important step towards helping low-
income households access decent accommodation.

The affordable housing initiative is a key pillar of the President’s development
agenda. His administration has repeatedly argued that the programme will reduce
the housing deficit, create employment opportunities and provide homes for Kenyans
who might otherwise struggle to afford homeownership.

However, the programme has also attracted public debate over housing costs, eligibility
requirements and the overall affordability of the units for low-income earners.

Despite these concerns, the Pioneer visit has provided fresh material for online
discussions about the government’s housing agenda and its implementation.

Some Kenyans have praised the President’s gesture, interpreting the visit as an
effort to demonstrate confidence in the project and highlight the living conditions
the housing programme seeks to provide.

Ruto’s Rift Valley tour comes as the government continues to promote its development
record, with affordable housing remaining one of its flagship initiatives.

The video is likely to keep the conversation going as Kenyans assess whether the
programme will deliver homes that are genuinely accessible to ordinary households
across the country.
