# Video: Kawira Mwangaza Breathes Fire After Goons Attack Her Motorcade in Meru

Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has broken her silence following an alleged
attack on her motorcade during Mashujaa Day celebrations in Meru County on October
20, 2026.

According to a video circulating online, Mwangaza and her political team were confronted
by a group of individuals reportedly armed with crude weapons. The incident sparked
fresh political tensions as the former governor continued her political activities
in the county.

Following the incident, Mwangaza directed strong accusations at her successor, Governor
Isaac Mutuma, who previously served as her deputy before taking over the county’s
leadership.

The former governor alleged that Mutuma was behind the attack, claiming that the
incident was politically motivated. However, the allegations have not been independently
verified, and no response from the current governor was provided in the information
available.

Mwangaza expressed her displeasure over the incident and issued a warning to her
political rival, vowing to challenge his leadership in the 2027 General Election.

She declared her intention to use the ballot to remove Mutuma from office, signalling
that their political rivalry could intensify as the next election approaches.

The reported confrontation has raised concerns about political intolerance in Meru,
where leaders are increasingly positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 polls.

The incident reportedly occurred at Githongo as Mwangaza attempted to access the
stadium for the celebrations. Reports indicated that her vehicle was damaged during
the confrontation, although the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.

Mwangaza’s accusations have added another chapter to the political tensions between
the former governor and her successor.

With the 2027 General Election drawing closer, the latest developments could further
strain relations between the two leaders as they seek to consolidate their political
influence in Meru County.

Authorities had yet to establish publicly who was responsible for the alleged attack
based on the information provided.
