# Video: Karen Nyamu Explains How She Helped Forge a KCSE Certificate

Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has sparked public debate following remarks she reportedly
made during a live radio interview about helping a campaign team member obtain a
forged Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

The senator, who is also an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, reportedly recounted
how she became involved in the incident while explaining how the individual attempted
to join the National Police Service.

According to the account of her interview, Nyamu said she helped the campaign team
member forge a KCSE certificate to enable him to qualify for recruitment into the
police service.

The individual reportedly proceeded to the Kenya Police Training College in Kiganjo,
Nyeri County, for training before the alleged document fraud was discovered.

The situation subsequently took a different turn when the individual was arrested
over the allegedly forged academic documents. Nyamu reportedly said she was contacted
and informed about the incident.

Her account has since drawn attention to questions surrounding academic qualifications,
recruitment procedures and the integrity required of individuals seeking positions
within Kenya’s security agencies.

The reported revelation has also triggered calls from some Kenyans for authorities
to investigate the matter and establish whether any criminal offence was committed.

Some members of the public are questioning whether the senator could face legal
consequences if investigations establish that she knowingly participated in the
preparation or use of forged academic documents.

However, any determination of criminal liability would depend on the available evidence,
the applicable law and the findings of the relevant authorities. A statement made
during an interview, on its own, does not establish guilt.

The controversy places fresh attention on the importance of verifying academic certificates
during recruitment, particularly in sensitive institutions such as the National
Police Service.

As reactions continue to emerge, Kenyans will be watching to see whether the relevant
authorities respond to the reported remarks and whether any formal investigation
follows.

Nyamu’s reported account has opened a wider conversation about accountability and
the standards expected of public officials, especially when allegations concern
possible breaches of the law.
