Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has sharply criticized voters in Western
Kenya for demanding a thirty percent share of President William Ruto’s government,
pointing out that the region failed to deliver the requisite electoral support during
the 2022 General Election.

Speaking during an engagement with political aspirants and grassroots leaders in
Kisumu, Mudavadi expressed frustration with local leaders and residents who now
claim entitlements from an administration they largely voted against.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary reminded the audience of the political pre-election
negotiations undertaken prior to the last election, noting that his efforts to rally
the Luhya community into the ruling coalition were ignored by a majority of voters
in the region.

He questioned the rationale of demanding major development allocations, infrastructure
projects, and executive positions when the community chose not to follow his political
direction when it mattered most.

Mudavadi emphasized that political leverage and resource distribution within any
government are built on electoral participation and strategic partnerships.

He urged the region to stop pursuing entitlement-based politics and instead focus
on aligning solidly with the ruling party ahead of upcoming election cycles.

To secure key legislative committee positions, development projects, and national
appointments in the future, he advised the community to elect leaders under the
ruling party banner rather than supporting opposition factions.

The remarks highlight growing tensions between establishment leaders from Western
Kenya and their grassroots base as political realignments take shape.

With opposition movements making inroads across the region, Mudavadi’s forceful
lecture serves as a stern reminder that political investment remains a prerequisite
for claiming national executive dividends.
