# Oburu Odinga Speaks Out on ODM-UDA Agreement Debates, Issues Conditions to Ruto

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Leader Oburu Odinga has broken his silence
regarding the escalating internal debates and public friction over the party’s working
arrangement with President William Ruto’s ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA)
ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Addressing the persistent push from a section of ODM members for a formal written
agreement to govern the political partnership, Oburu issued a firm statement laying
down the party’s conditions while warning against external interference.

Opening his address with a personal update, the veteran lawmaker expressed gratitude
to Kenyans and the ODM fraternity for their support during his health recovery, 
assuring supporters that he remains firmly on the path to full recovery.

Turning to political matters, Oburu expressed concern over attempts by non-ODM members
to dictate how the party should navigate its engagements with UDA.

He emphasized that ODM is an established political institution with legitimate structures,
clear objectives, and experienced leadership capable of conducting negotiations 
without unsolicited advice.

“These negotiations are serious political engagements, not public spectacles to 
be conducted in the glare of television cameras,” Oburu stated.

Setting out the party’s primary condition, Oburu made it clear that the full implementation
of the **10-point agenda**—alongside other pressing national issues—remains a fundamental,
non-negotiable pillar before any further terms or political pacts are finalized.
He reaffirmed that ODM’s commitment to this agenda is absolute, noting the immense
sacrifices the party has made for the country’s progress and stability.

Concluding his statement, Oburu sharply cautioned critics and external actors against
offering unsolicited political counsel, advising those outside the ODM fold to focus
on addressing the country’s pressing challenges instead of interfering in internal
party negotiations.
