More Trouble For Kawira Mwangaza As Senate Makes Unexpected Move That Could Cost Her The Seat

On August 21, 2024. Kawira Mwangaza was impeached by the Senate of Kenya. A decision that was arrived at by over 25 senators who upheld Meru County Assembly decision to remove her.

Mwangaza moved to High Court where an order was given stopping her removal temporarily. She argued through her lawyer Eric Mutuma that her rights were violated during the process of her removal.

She has been discharging her duties as governor despite the impeachment leading to wide protests for Meru Residents. Resident demanded she stop being in charge until the case is heard and determined.

Well, the Senate has responded with new petition after speaker Amason Kingi was sued by Kawira Mwangaza. They have made a move that might make Mwangaza thrown out of office completely.

According to the petition from the Senate. Mwangaza made a mistake of sueing Senate speaker Amason Kingi instead of listing the whole house. Senators are saying that, by doing so their right to be heard was violated.

They have also applied to be enjoined in the case claiming the judge did not make it clear when the case will be heard and determined. This is a mistake that should be corrected according to the senators.

If successfully impeached. Mwangaza will be the third governor to be thrown out of office after Mike Sonko and Waititu. The duo were Impeached successfully and their deputies appointed to continue with the reign.
