# “Kamata Hao Watu Wote Hata Kama Ni Waserikali Wetu”: Kindiki Orders Arrests After Kawira Mwangaza Attack

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has called on police officers to arrest everyone
involved in the attack on former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza during Mashujaa Day
celebrations.

Kindiki condemned the incident while campaigning for President William Ruto’s re-
election in Meru County, saying Mwangaza had a constitutional right to express her
views publicly without facing violence.

The Deputy President urged security agencies to act swiftly and ensure those responsible
face the law, regardless of their political connections or government positions.

“Kamata hao watu wote hata kama ni waserikali wetu,” Kindiki said, calling for the
arrest of all individuals involved in the incident, including those affiliated with
the government.

His remarks followed reports that Mwangaza was attacked by a group of individuals
during the national celebrations. The incident has drawn attention to concerns surrounding
political intolerance and the safety of leaders expressing differing opinions.

Kindiki maintained that political disagreements should not justify violence against
anyone. He emphasized that law enforcement officers must investigate the incident
and take appropriate action against those found responsible.

The Deputy President’s statement also signalled that individuals supporting the
Kenya Kwanza administration should not receive preferential treatment if investigations
establish their involvement in the attack.

Mwangaza, who previously served as Meru governor, has remained a prominent figure
in the region’s political affairs. Her public appearances and political positions
have attracted attention amid ongoing political activities in Meru County.

Kindiki’s comments came as he continued his campaign activities in support of Ruto’s
second-term bid ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The incident is likely to renew debate over political freedom, public security and
the responsibility of authorities to protect leaders and ordinary citizens during
public gatherings.

Police investigations and any official statements concerning arrests will be important
in establishing the circumstances surrounding the reported attack and identifying
those responsible.

Kindiki’s demand for arrests, including of government supporters, places the focus
on whether authorities will take action against everyone implicated, regardless
of political affiliation.
