# Natembeya’s Communications Officer Amos Boaz Masika Reportedly Arrested at Gunpoint in Kitale

Tension has emerged in Trans Nzoia County after Amos Boaz Masika, popularly known
as Hammer Hammer, a communications officer attached to Governor George Natembeya’s
office, was reportedly arrested by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) 
officers in Kitale town on Thursday, October 22, 2026.

According to a statement from Natembeya’s team, Masika was picked up at gunpoint
by detectives while in Kitale. However, the circumstances surrounding the reported
arrest and the reasons behind the officers’ actions remain unclear.

The governor’s camp has reacted strongly to the incident, describing it as an attempt
by what it termed “the system” to frustrate Natembeya and undermine his administration.

In its statement, the team claimed that the arrest was politically motivated and
linked it to the growing differences between the Trans Nzoia governor and President
William Ruto.

“The DCI have picked up Amos Boaz Masika, alias Hammer Hammer, a Communications 
Officer in the Office of the Governor, at gunpoint in Kitale town. It’s a way the
system wants to frustrate Governor George Natembeya,” the statement read.

The team also used the incident to issue a political message ahead of the 2027 General
Election, expressing support for Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and the Linda Mwananchi
political movement.

“Even if they arrest everyone, Waluhya in 2027 wameerevuka! Kura yote ni kwa Sifuna!
Haya ni mapito tu! We shall overcome,” the statement added.

The reported arrest comes amid escalating political tensions involving Natembeya,
who has increasingly differed with President Ruto over political and regional issues.

The latest development could further intensify debate surrounding the governor’s
political activities and his relationship with the national government.

As of the time of reporting, police had not issued an official statement confirming
Masika’s arrest or explaining the grounds for his reported detention.

Further details regarding his whereabouts and the circumstances of the incident
