# Gachagua Gathers Linda Mwanainchi Brigade in Nyeri as Details Emerge of Key Discussions at Wamunyoro

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has hosted leaders associated with the
Linda Mwanainchi Movement at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County, with reports
indicating that the meeting could shape the future of the United Opposition ahead
of the 2027 General Election.

Gachagua, who returned to Kenya on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, welcomed the delegation
alongside his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi. A video circulating online showed the
couple receiving guests at their residence ahead of an indoor meeting expected to
focus on the opposition’s political strategy.

The gathering comes amid growing political realignments as opposition leaders seek
to establish a united front capable of challenging President William Ruto in the
next general election.

According to information attributed to an insider, one of the key issues discussed
was the question of who should carry the United Opposition’s presidential flag in
the 2027 presidential contest.

The choice of a flag bearer remains a significant question for opposition leaders,
particularly as different political figures seek to consolidate their support bases
and strengthen their influence ahead of the election.

The discussions at Wamunyoro could therefore provide an opportunity for leaders
associated with the Linda Mwanainchi Movement to exchange views on leadership, political
cooperation and the best strategy for mounting a credible challenge against Ruto.

However, details of the deliberations, including whether the leaders reached an
agreement on a potential presidential candidate, had not been independently confirmed
at the time of publication.

Gachagua’s meeting with the delegation is likely to attract political attention
given his position in the opposition and his growing involvement in efforts to mobilise
leaders around an alternative political platform.

With the 2027 elections approaching, the question of who will lead the opposition
ticket could become a major source of negotiations among key political players.

The outcome of the Wamunyoro discussions may offer further indications of the direction
the Linda Mwanainchi Movement and its allies intend to take as they prepare for
the next electoral contest.
