Wiper Patriotic Front Movement Party leader Hon Kalonzo Musyoka was yesterday attacked in Migori County during his rally.
Hon Kalonzo has received a stern warning from the Orange Democratic Movement Party politician who has revealed leaders that they will not tolerate them in the Nyanza region.
Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly and prominent political commentator Robert Alai has sparked sharp debate within the opposition movement after advising Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka against featuring certain Mount Kenya leaders during his political outreach in Nyanza region.
Alai raised serious concerns regarding the inclusion of constitutional lawyer Ndegwa Njiru and former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi in Kalonzo’s delegation as the opposition ramps up its nationwide mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the Nairobi legislator, the presence of these figures on the campaign trail in Nyanza is strategically counterproductive and politically insincere.
Alai emphasized that both Muturi and Njiru have historically shown little regard or genuine appreciation for the political and socio-economic value of the Nyanza region.
He argued that their sudden realignment and effort to project solidarity with Nyanza voters carries zero credibility, given their past political stances and associations.
The vocal politician declared that the local electorate and political leadership should not, and cannot, tolerate individuals who only view the region as a convenient tool for political expediency.
The warning comes at a critical time as opposition leaders attempt to consolidate multi-regional alliances to form a formidable front against the government.
While Kalonzo Musyoka has been working to build broad-based coalitions across the country, Alai’s stance highlights growing friction among grassroots allies regarding political optics and trust.
Local political analysts view Alai’s comments as a clear boundary setting for regional politics, reflecting deep-seated sensitivities about external political figures establishing footprints in Nyanza.
As political realignments continue to shape up, the friction underlines the delicate balancing act required to keep diverse opposition factions united without alienating key regional strongholds.
