Ruto Proves To Be Too Strong For Sifuna As New Poll Is Released
Nairobi County Senator Honorable Edwin Sifuna is expected to go head to head with the President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency William Ruto, in the 2027 general election.
Sifuna, whose popularity increased after being thrown out of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) as Secretary General, has consistently held meetings across the country asking Kenyans to support his goal of removing Ruto from office through the ballot.
However, a newly released public opinion poll has presented him with tough questions to ponder.
According to the latest survey released by market research firm Research 8020 on Saturday, October 24, 2026, President William Ruto maintains an edge over his political rivals in the early presidential preference rankings. The poll places President Ruto at the top with 26% of voter support nationwide, while Senator Sifuna comes in close behind at 25%.

While Sifuna’s aggressive grassroots mobilization has clearly yielded significant momentum—narrowing the gap to just a single percentage point—the results demonstrate President Ruto’s formidable resilience at the head of the national landscape.
The incumbent’s strong baseline numbers reflect steady support despite energetic efforts from opposition figures to rally countrywide discontent against his administration.
For Sifuna, trailing behind the Head of State highlights the uphill battle facing his bid to unseat an incumbent president.
While securing 25% establishes him as a central contender in the upcoming contest, failing to overtake Ruto exposes the strategic hurdle of turning opposition energy into a definitive lead.
With the 2027 general election still ahead, this poll underlines that President Ruto remains a powerful force on the political chessboard. Both camps are now expected to re-evaluate their strategies as the race for State House intensifies.
