Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has drawn parallels between recent international political developments and Kenya’s electoral landscape, asserting that the opposition is poised to replicate its key parliamentary victories nationwide in the 2027 General Election.
Referring to his recent engagements in the United States, Gachagua claimed that tactics demonstrated during the landmark Ol Kalou by-election have resonated far beyond Kenya’s borders.
Addressing supporters, the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader explained that what he terms pulling an Ol Kalou represents an electoral strategy where voters reject government patronage, state machinery, and financial inducements to deliver decisive ballot box verdicts.
He claimed that during his interactions in Texas, he outlined the grassroots resistance model executed by voters in Nyandarua County, comparing the political dynamics to major electoral shifts observed in global politics.
Gachagua stated that the Ol Kalou outcome established a precedent showing that executive influence and massive campaign expenditures cannot guarantee victory when voters demand leadership change.
He emphasized that the defiance displayed during that by-election serves as a clear blueprint for how the opposition coalition intends to mobilize voters and safeguard election outcomes across all 47 counties.
According to the former second-in-command, the political momentum within the opposition remains unstoppable despite efforts by the ruling administration to fragment rival bases.
He reaffirmed that anti-government leaders are strengthening their national consensus, predicting that the same unified push that secured victory in Ol Kalou will decide the 2027 presidential race.
The remarks highlight an intensifying campaign by opposition figures to instill confidence among their supporters as regional realignments continue to shape the political horizon.
